Skin Needling Q: How many treatments are recommended for rejuvenation, acne scarring and stretch marks? A. Generally a minimum of 3 treatments are required to achieve the optimum rejuvenation of an area. Rejuvenation 4 - 6 treatments 4 weeks apart Acne Scarring 6 - 8 treatments 6 weeks apart Stretch Marks 10 - 20 treatments 4 weeks apart Q: Should I prepare my skin before having a Fractional Micro-Needling treatment? A. For optimal results we recommend a period of effective active treatment creams such as Vitamin A, Growth Factor Serums to allow the skin's strength to be built up (especially necessary for thin and delicate skin areas). Continue to use these recommended solutions after the treatment for a period of 6 weeks. Q: How long would it take before I see results? A. Typically, the first week after the treatment you may get some skin peeling which helps lighten pigmentation or scarring and the skin looks more hydrated. The results are gradual as collagen re- production takes time, most clients report a gradual improvement in their skin colour and texture over 6- 8 week period. That improvement is compounded as each consecutive treatment is performed. So it’s really important to apply creams at home and commit and rebook your treatments to see the best results. Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4-6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). Your skin will continue to improve over the next 3-6 months after a course of treatments and when combined with the recommended post-treatment skincare regime. Q: Is the treatment painful? A. For a minimum needle depths (0.2mm-0.5mm) treatments are painless. For treatments deeper than 1mm, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied 15-20 minutes before treatment and will render the treatment completely pain-free. Q: Is there any downtime after treatment? A. Generally no, but you may experience facial redness for up to 4 hours after the treatment. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Application of Clinical Post-Treatment Foundation, which is breathable camouflage, will seal the skin and cover any redness for an immediate return to work. Q: How soon after filler injections can I have a Fractional Micro-Needling treatment? A. It is recommended to leave a gap of at least 7 days after filler injections so that any post treatment bruising from the fillers can settle. Or the recommended option is to have your Fractional Micro-Needling treatment 4-7 days before having fillers injected. Q: When is skin needling NOT recommended? A. - the treatment should not be performed within 2 weeks of having an injectable dermal filler or botox. - the treatment is never performed on raised moles, warts or lesions - during pregnancy (when breastfeeding the treatment is allowed) - medication (some medication may reduce healing time, please advise your therapist on anything you may be taking) - the treatment will not be performed if the client has an active herpes or acne breakout, however, once resolved the treatment can go ahead after 2 weeks - medical conditions( ie diabetes) need medical certificate Q: What are the side effects of a skin needling procedure? A. Over 175,000 skin needling procedures have been performed worldwide without any recorded incidents. Side effects are minimal, including mild swelling, mild bruising and peeling. Q: Risks of post-op infections? A. Channels close within minutes, and provided the procedure is done under clinical conditions, post-op infections are very unlikely. To ensure the right healing environment, for 48 hours don’t not use glycolic acid, retinol, acidic skincare or “active” ingredients.
